Engineering

Something Truly spectacular

Our students in the math and physics program visited @cern in Switzerland this weekend, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, which is a European research organization that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Student Lauren said, “CERN was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and the whole tour felt like a dream. CERN shows how physicists and engineers of different backgrounds and genders can work together to create something truly spectacular.” The students toured the first particle accelerator created at CERN and participated in a simulation. They learned about how a particle accelerator works and what CERN is doing to further the technology. In the future, they plan to make a particle accelerator that is 100km long, the current accelerator is 27km long. Lauren said, “CERN opened my eyes to new possibilities that I didn’t even know existed for me.” The group also saw the United Nations building and Lake Geneva. What an incredible time to be an #ouasooner#ouinarezzo

Whoever said Art History class

was boring obviously didn’t go to @ouinarezzo!

It only took nine miles and 27,000 steps. Wow!

Fun & Engaging

Academics at #ouinarezzo are engaging and fun! Shown here are engineering students practicing their skills for the circuits course and chemistry students studying with their professor, Dr. Dan Glatzhofer! #ouafall18 @ouartssciences @engineeringatou

More Italian Gusto

We’re excited to have Dr. Kimball Martin here this semester with his family! Kimball is the calculus professor and student Michael says, “Dr. Martin (who also takes an Italian course here) incorporates small amounts of Italian culture into his class to give it a more Italian 'gusto' (flavor), making Calculus III in 8 weeks a little easier to swallow.” #ouinarezzo #ouafall19 @ouabroad
